About Us
Horton Commercials Ltd is one of the largest Commercial Bodyshop’s and Commercial Body Builders on the south coast and is owned by David Wolfenden.
David left school at 16 to become an apprentice mechanic working with cars, vans, motorcycles and plant machinery.
Going self employed from the age of 22, a regular customer base started to form and a mechanical workshop was opened in 1984.
More opportunities arose to expand the mechanical operation to include commercial body repair and paint.
1986 was a pivotal year when investment was made in bigger premises and paint booths. Contracts followed with hauliers and coach companies and an additional specialist repair of refrigerated vehicles was added to the portfolio.
Further expansion in 1992 saw the opening of a 12,000 sq ft industrial unit on the Ferndown Industrial Estate.
Commercial vehicle coach building was included and recently a new 20,000 sq ft purpose built facility has been added which is solely focused on building commercial vehicle bodies for some of the most prominent and diverse end users in the country.

Commercial Vehicle Body Repair
Situated on the Ferndown Industrial Estate in Dorset, depot manager Jeff Wentworth and his team can cater for a one van business to a multinational freight company and can repair and refurbish most types of vehicles whether it be a LCV, PSV, LGV or Trailer. Our Body Repair Centre can undertake the repair of the largest of accidents to a scratch on a panel. We utilise all the latest industry repair techniques in the rebuild process and offer full low bake paint facilities.
Commercial Vehicle Body Build
Situated on the Ferndown Industrial Estate in Dorset, Chris Chaffey and his team build vehicles from 3.5 tonne up to 32 tonne gross vehicle weight rigid chassis and trailers. In our modern workshop facilities, we supply bespoke body work to a diverse customer base including: Utilities, builder’s merchants, pallet work, parcel delivery, vehicle/plant recovery and specialist removal/transportation.
Mechanical Repair
Situated on the Ferndown Industrial Estate in Dorset and Weyhill Road in Andover, our two fully equipped, state of the art mechanical workshops are staffed with hand-picked Technicians and equipped to deal with all eventualities, offering the highest standards of repair and servicing, not only for our own fleet, but also yours. We can meet all your vehicle repair and maintenance needs for small cars, commercial vans, heavy commercial vehicles, coaches, buses and trailers.
